DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY
Pharein Griffith, born and raised in New York City, attended Mercy College majoring in Accounting and Marketing. Ms. Griffith has spent the past thirty years advancing her career in the Luxury Goods and Services industry at companies such as Tiffany & Co, Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Brooks Brothers, all while fervently contributing to her community as a parent activist and community coordinator.
The mother of two sons, a college graduate and the other currently a college student, who was born on the Autism spectrum. This caused Ms. Griffith to center her focus on the quality of education as an advocate for children with special needs. Her heartfelt passion, has also attributed to her active involvement in workshops for parents of special needs children, which lead to her participation in both her sons’ school's School Leadership Team (SLT), PTA and ultimately being elected Treasurer of PTA where she held the position for two years. Ms. Griffith is on the World of Money Parent Advisory Council and Outreach Committee. She also volunteers her time to fundraising and recruiting candidates for the Wadleigh Scholars Program and Wingspan Arts Conservatory.
Ms. Griffith is a strong believer in community engaging. She has held the elected position as Treasurer for the NYPD 28th Precinct Community Council for the past Seven years. She is a member of the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development(DYCD) Neighborhood Advisory Board(NAB). Ms. Griffith is on the Executive Committee for the NY Branch NAACP. She is also a community partner on the Manhattan Community Board 10’s Transportation Committee and the Vision Zero Taskforce to help implement Mayor Bill de Blasio’s initiative to reduce traffic fatalities and improve pedestrian safety in the New York City area.
With her strong commitment to being civically engaged, Ms. Griffith was elected in 2015 as County Committee Member in the 70th Assembly District Part A. She is a member of the Uptown Democratic Club, founding member of The Collective PAC and Chair, NY Branch NAACP Civic Engagement Committee.
Ms. Griffith now works for herself has a Travel Agent and lives in Harlem with her 21 year old son, who attends Berkeley College where he is majoring in Math and Economics.
